Subject: Re:Engine Stalled - Bad Fuel Sending Unit - by: crayzeewulf Same thing happened to me on the freeway and a 2008 FJ Cruiser. The vehicle stalled suddenly and the battery, oil, and A/T oil temp lights came on. After I towed the vehicle to the dealer they told me that the fuel sending unit was dead. Apparently I had driven the car too close to the 'E' fuel-level too many times. FJ-ers watch out. :(... Subject: drivetrain failures (auto tranny) - by: paulndot I have a 2007 4WD, A/T. About 2 months ago, I couldn't get the FJ to move. The shift selector could go into every position, but it was as if the truck was a M/T with the clutch pressed - nothing going. This was at 61K miles. Luckily, I purchased an extended warranty, and it was covered. AAMCO transmissions said it was the torque converter that was blown. It was replaced and so far so good.
A few weeks later, I started to hear a very loud grinning noise from the rear. I could get the noise to diminish by... Break it down first. The F stands for the Type F Gasoline engine the switched to in 1954 from the original Type B. The J actually stands for jeep, which was a generic term for that style vehicle before it became a name brand. The first of its kind was the Toyota Jeep BJ, using the the Type B motor. The two digits that began to follow the FJ are specifying the series. It went:
FJ, FJ-40, FJ-55 and 56, FJ-60, FJ-70(never made it to the states), FJ-80, FJ-100, an...
